The home edition of ENPOWER, replete with all the features that go into the Enterprise Edition was launched in October along with an energy savings race titled ‘The Social Power Array’ on Facebook. This Facebook Application lets you know how much you’ve saved, how much your friends are saving, and what the worldwide savings thus far look like. The premise is simple – while enterprises will pay for such a tool, an individual user has little or no incentive to spend on ENPOWER. However, if a large number of home users download Enpower, a free application, the impact can be significant. The initiative has seen 90 users across 7 countries collectively avoid nearly 13,000 hours of inactivity and save over 700kWh of power on their computers so far.
