Gridbots: Launches a new range of Robots

Gridbots, a technology startup currently incubated at IIM Ahmedabad’s business incubator CIIE works in the field of Robotics, Security- Surveillance and Artificial Intelligence.

Recently they have introduced three new products:

a.    SleuthHound – Automatic target locking and tracking cameras with translational capabilities

b.      peopleTRAK  -  A device to keep a track of people and to be used in media analytics space

c.       Heaxapod Robots – A robot which has 6 legs and can be used in research and development on robotics.

Capital Strategies For A Reviving Economy

VCCircle Investment Forum

VCCircle Investment Forum held in Ahmedabad on August 12 attracted 200 delegates from Ahmedabad and from the other parts of the country. The forum – titled Capital Strategies For A Reviving Economy - saw participation from leading private equity fund managers, venture capitalists, companies, entrepreneurs, bankers, advisors and management consultants.

The forum was organized by India Value Fund in association with India Equity Partners (IEP) to help PE and VC funds make inroads into the state. CIIE was the academic partner for the event. We helped them in promoting the event in Ahmedabad and hosting the StageD program.

StageD is like a formal networking forum for handpicked companies to talk about themselves. Each company was given a 10mins presentation slot in front of the expert panel followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. The panel members for the event comprised Bejul Somaia, Managing Director, Lightspeed Venture Partners; Rahul Chandra, Director, Helion Venture Partners; Rahul Khanna, Director, Clearstone Venture Advisors; Shiraz Bugwadia, Director, o3 Capital and Mihir Joshi, Managing Director, GVFL.

The participants for the event included Vama Communications- a media production house with specialized skills in developing marketing communication collaterals for corporate and government bodies, M/s Kuna Impex P. Ltd – manufacture and supply of Small Wind Power System, Vmukti which provides a Multi-party collaborative video conference platform for integrating web & telecom users, Gridbots Technologies Pvt. Ltd which is into Robotics, Security-Surveillance and Artificial Intelligence and Ceon Solutions, the leading provider of integrated Education Process Management Solutions and Consultancy to Educational Institutes.

Few of the Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs) of the RE-Search program are looking for people to team up with.

Profiles of EIRs

1.       Jaswant Bangaru

 

Jaswant is working in the area of Biomass based energy generation. His company AltEnerGen (AEG) is a rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered at Bangalore, India.

Founder’s background:  Jaswant holds Bachelor’s in Engineering (Electrical) from Andhra University, India and MBA in Finance from Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto. His prior work experience spans Operations and Maintenance/Plant Management of Hydro Electric Projects with APGENCO, India; short stint in Energy and Efficiency focused Venture Capital fund to developing Wind Power projects and helping grow a start up into a leading Wind Power Company in Canada.

 

2. Ankur Tripathi and Saurabh Gupta

They are developing solutions for improving energy efficiency in transportation sector. Most of the products being developed are web based and targeted to improve efficiency of various processes across the value chain.

Founder’s background: WKI Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is a start-up of graduates from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay with a small staff of specialized individuals who are well suited to provide services at various levels. The core team has cumulative experience of more than 15 years across various sectors, industries and geographies.

 

3. Mohit Chauhan

He is working on in-situ production of hydrogen using multiple feedstocks like CNG, Ethanol

Founder’s background:  Mohit Chauhan is a B.Tech in Biotechnology from IIT Guwahati. 

He was a Research Intern at the Technical University, Kaiserslautern, Germany and at the Deptt of Chemical and Biomolecular Engg, National University of Singapore.

 

         4. Anirudhh Jain

He is looking to commercialize/democratize fuel cells by leveraging on light weight efficient technologies developed at CSIR Network labs.

Founder’s background: Anirudhh graduated from IIT Guwahati with a B.Tech in Biotechnology Engg, has worked on Lab-on-Chip technologies at Advanced MEMS Laboratory, IIT Kharagpur and as an exchange student at Dept of Chemical and Bio molecular Engg, Nat’l University of Singapore, Singapore.
